Discover the hard work and dedication that goes into creating a film with these behind-the-scenes photos of "Opération Luchador" by Richard Duquette

Operation Luchador

At the dawn of the Second World War, Nazism was extending its grip over South America. The Golden Angel, a Mexican masked wrestler, was recruited by the Americans in order to flush out the spies of the Third Reich and put a stop to their nefarious schemes. The Golden Angel's assignments, still classified Top Secret and therefore absent from the history books, even brought him to a pivotal confrontation with Hitler himself.

Operation Luchador

A true action hero in the greatest tradition of Mexican luchador.

“Operation Luchador” is a film that Films.Solutions Help produced, and we had the honor to provide the Director of Photography. The film was directed by Alain Vézina, who is a specialist in Japanese film-culture, such as Godzilla and American slasher films from the 1950s and 60s.

The plot of the film takes place at the dawn of the Second World War, when Nazism was extending its grip over South America. The story follows the Golden Angel, a Mexican masked wrestler who is recruited by the Americans to flush out the spies of the Third Reich and put a stop to their nefarious schemes. The Golden Angel’s assignments, which are still classified as Top Secret and therefore absent from the history books, even brought him to a pivotal confrontation with Hitler himself.

Direction of Photography

As the Director of Photography, Richard  was a challenging and exciting task to work with Alain and the rest of the team to bring this unique and captivating story to life. The film’s setting in South America during the Second World War provided an interesting and dynamic backdrop for the story, and it was a great opportunity to explore the different cultural and historical elements that were present in that time period. One of the most challenging aspects of the film was recreating the look and feel of the 1940s era. We wanted to ensure that the film had a realistic and authentic. Additionally, we used a muted colour palette and desaturated tones to give the film a more vintage look. Working with Alain was a fantastic experience. Moreover ,he had a clear vision for the film and was able to convey his ideas effectively to the rest of the team. He also had a deep understanding of Japanese sub-culture, which helped to give the film a unique and distinct look and feel. He was able to combine the elements of Japanese sub-culture with the historical setting of the film to create a truly one-of-a-kind story. Overall, “The Golden Angel” was a challenging but incredibly rewarding project to work on. The film’s unique storyline, combined with its historical and cultural elements, made for a captivating and thought-provoking film. As a result, we are proud to have been a part of bringing this story to life and hope that audiences will enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it.
